THIS EVENT IS CONFIRMED ON
The Flamsteed Astronomy Society will be taking part in the Shrewsbury Park Summer Festival this year.
The event takes place on Sunday 28th June from 2pm to 5pm. All are welcome to attend. Details on how to find the park can be found here.
We plan to bring solar telescopes so that attendees can get live views of the Sun, along with other astronomical equipment if anyone wants to chat about getting involved in astronomy as a hobby.
As well as our involvement, the festival will include dancing in the park, with the Doriel School of Dancing, Greenwich Morris Men and Leo’s Kpop group. There will also be a dog show, and there will be a children’s play area, and a park photo competition, Hawk and Hood, as well as a wide range of stalls selling crafts, food, and books, and promoting other voluntary groups. Several hundred local people visited the festival in the fine weather last year, so it would be great to see some Flamsteed members in attendance.
