Feeling a lot better when I woke I went to the RAS public lecture in Piccadilly to hear Hiranya Peiris speak about  ” Planck: views of the origins of the Universe”.  She started out with a brief re cap of the process from the big bang to the present day.  She then went into details about inflation and the evidence from the Planck data for inflation.  She also touched on the Bicep 2 results and the dust issue. Ending by stating that the joint collaboration between the Planck team and bicep2 team will report in November.

She will be speaking to Flamsteed on March 9th 2015.  Which will give us the opportunity to get details and ask her questions about these result.  I found the talk a very interesting and illuminating event.

Thanks for that, Brian. I was planning to attend but just couldn’t make it, unfortunately. Glad it was a good event. Sounds like we’ve got a great speaker to look forward to in March.
