Fingers crossed for a safe landing now… but I’m getting increasingly concerned about this thruster problem after hearing some interviews with the Rosetta scientists.

They appear to be pinning their hopes on this being an instrumentation problem, in which case the thruster will still fire. It’s believed that it will be “very difficult” for Philae to survive if the thruster doesn’t fire. Eeeeek.

Just to alleviate or at least sooth your anxiety, Mike and everyone elses…listen to the great Vangelis exclusive new score for the Rosetta mission and feast your eyes on the striking images of the comet

Its super excting for me personally to hear a new almost vintage Vangelis who was in my top 3 favourite composers along with Morricone and Williams, the fact that its exclusive to Rosetta make it all the more sweet.

Will this simulation of Rosetta’s whole epic journey speeded up, work? 🙂

Use the mouse to zoom in and out and shift perspectives. Clever sim but takes a little getting used to controlling the view

    Yes!!! We have a photo

It’s blurred… it’s looking back into the Sun… but it’s still amazing to see. Fantastic. Taken from 500 million kilometres away… already an iconic picture.
