The Society has organised a visit to the Bayfordbury Observatory at the University of Hertfordshire, near Hertford, Hertfordshire on the evening of 10th January 2018 starting at 19:15. The Bayfordbury Observatory is the University of Hertfordshire's teaching observatory for astronomy and astrophysics. THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELLED DUE TO LOW INTEREST.   We are planning a visit to the telescope hosting facility of Entre Encinas y Estrellas (otherwise known as e-Eye), in Fregenal de la Sierra, Spain. E-Eye has a very dark sky (typical SQM reading in summer is 22) where the Milky Way is clearly visible including the dust lanes and with up to 270 clear nights per year. It charts the cultural and scientific story of our relationship with the Moon, featuring more than 180 objects, including artefacts from Apollo 11. Flamsteed members have a unique opportunity to see this exhibition, guided by Louise Devoy, one of the RMG curators responsible for this excellent show.
