A very well attended astrophotography session on Blackheath last night – it looked like there were around 40 people in attendance, with most bringing equipment – including our friends from the South London Photographic Society.
Conditions weren’t great, though at least we had clear skies. Lots of high hazy cloud meant that we couldn’t see many features in the sky that we’d normally see at this time of year. Still, I think everyone got something out of the event, and it was lovely to see people trying out astrophotography for the first time.
The cold may have taken some people by surprise! Even though it was a relatively warm evening, the wind and the fact that you are not moving around very much means that you can get cold very quickly. It’s not for nothing that we advise people to wrap up warm… even I was feeling cold by the time we packed up just after 10pm.
Anyway, here are a few of my efforts from the evening. Not the best of images given the conditions, but at least it shows you can get something out of (almost) every astrophotography session…

Thanks to everyone who came along and participated. We must run an event like this again soon.
Our next video is going to be a cracker!
