Royal Observatory Greenwich
Many of our events (such as viewing evenings with the Great Equatorial Telescope) take place at the Royal Observatory Greenwich.

As these events often take place after Greenwich Park is closed, special access instructions are issued prior to the event.
Access to the Park after closing is only via St Mary's Gate in Greenwich, junction Nevada Street & King William Walk.
Note that when the Park is closed, you cannot enter by any other gate.
If you are coming by car or motorcycle, note that St Mary's Gate is via Nevada Street, one-way. You can enter St Mary's Gate and drive up to the ROG where parking is free after 6:00pm. On arrival at the ROG please go to the entrance for the South Building (Astronomy Centre).
If you are on foot, there will be a shuttle bus from St Mary's Gate to the ROG. Please allow 15 minutes from the gate to the ROG. Pedestrians are not permitted to walk through the Park after closing. Please note that bicycles will not be admitted after closing - if you come by bike please chain your bicycle in the rack at the gate.
